Thankful for Modern Medicine
In the midst of all this postmodern talk, i want to put in a brief plug for modern medicine (read=with a bit of tongue in cheek, and warm chuckle) for it has certainly made my life easier to live and a lot easier to breathe… thank G-d that one day, some man or woman decided that there was “an answer” to the constriction of breathing pathways: called asthma and “a way” to make it easier to breathe (nebulizer, albuterol and other such wonders!)
So even though I enjoy postmodern deconstruction and the invitaiton to dialogue, and engage in possibilities, today i have to tip my hat to the modern machine of science. It was not just sleep i needed, but rather an influx of chemicals to open the breathing passageways so that oxygen could make its way into my lungs, bloodstream and tissues…
of course, now i have the shakes from all the meds, but at least i can breath and maybe i will be able to function at a more normal capacity of energy…(or at least closer to my normal energy level;). of course, i want this to happen immediately, and the well schooled medical doctor, says give it a few days… guess i can find a way to deconstruct that;)
it really is about “both/and” the inclusion of all that is good and profitable from each era of our stumbling progression to becoming truely human…and as i take a deep breath, i repent of my all too frequent scorn of the modern quest for concrete and definitive answers, for more than once it saved my life, and today, it makes it easier to breath, possible to communicate, able to fly, and so much more…
therein is the crux of the matter, embracing and appreciating all that is good, as it does come from the Father of Light, from the beginning of all time until now…and far into the unfolding future…
