LEADERS ARE READERS
When I was young, my dad paid us to read over the summer.
Back in those days, the 10-25 cents per book had a lot more buying power.
Hello, penny candy!
I love to read!
As a kid books took me to new places, on adventures I didn’t even know to dream about and gave me friends who understood things I felt and thought. I spent many summer afternoons perched in our big tree out back, stretched out on a long wide limb with an apple and a book!
Today, you can always find a few stacks of books near me, we once dedicated our dining room as a library, because our kiddos were little and our kitchen table was plenty.
Every move we’ve made comes with boxes of books because books are like friends and no one gets left behind!
Even in our tiny house travel trailer, I’ve packed books into nooks and crannies.
I love learning and books are an incredible resource for entertainment, learning new skills, stretching out thinking, and even getting lost in great prose. I read for content and look at how things are written. My books are doggeared, underlined, and well worn.
Leaders are Readers! Harnessing the power of books to help them grow into the best version of themself as a leader and a person!
Books help us grow our mindset, insights, knowledge, and/or skills. Fiction can teach us the power of story, and how to use it to evoke emotion and connect.
Here are some books I am enjoying:
Limitless by Jim Kwik
You Are the Brand by Mike Kim
Power Up, Power Down by Gail Rudolph ( Got to endorse this one! )
Business Made Simple by Donald Miller
The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
What are you reading that is growing your mindset, insights, knowledge, and/or skills?
